social life & COMMUNITY/
OVERSEAS INVOLVEMENT
Gedling Road Methodist Church has a long history of helping those in the local and wider community and overseas. We also have social events which might be to fundraise for a particular cause or to just enjoy time together such as shared meals in church, games nights, quiz nights, afternoon tea with guest speaker and special coffee mornings.
COFFEE MORNING CALENDAR
1st Saturday of each month from 10.30am - 12 noon in the Wesley Room at church. From donations made at the coffee mornings we have been able to support local and national charities. These are just a few of them.
Please join us - all are welcome to our coffee mornings.

KNIT & NATTER
Our Knit and Natter group meets each Monday morning from 10.00am until 12noon in the church. We are a varied and happy group and everyone is welcome to knit, natter or just enjoy a coffee or a cup of tea. We do our own knitting and crocheting and we also knit blankets & hats, scarves, gloves & jumpers/cardigans for children which are donated to charity. Our charity donations include items sent overseas by National Police Aid Convoys. The group also knits tiny hats, jackets and blankets for the Hospital Premature Baby Unit in Nottingham.
From small voluntary monetary donations made by members of the group over the years, we have been able to support numerous charities and our church. We have patterns and needles.
You are very welcome to join us to either knit or natter and have a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit.
If anyone has any spare double knitting wool and would be happy to donate it us or, better still, knit as well it will be very welcome

FOOD BANKS
Hope Nottingham is a Christian charity, which amongst other things supports many neighbourhood food banks across the city and we regularly collect and donate food to them. Each year we have a food collection at our Harvest Festival service and it is lovely to see the many and varied items on display as well as helping a worthwhile cause. We have also collected Christmas presents for parents such as toiletries etc. which are distributed by food banks.

BAGS OF BLESSINGS
Bags of Blessings are a charity, local to Nottingham, which distributes donated gifts to deprived young people in the Nottingham area.
Each Christmas we have a collection box in church and people donate small toys, stationery, books and items of confectionery. They are then distributed to young people aged 0-16 via food banks, homeless and refugee charities or organisations which support disadvantaged children.
At Easter we also donate chocolate eggs and children's books to the charity.
